A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL!

Dear Commander Community,

We are so excited to welcome you back to school this upcoming week for the 22-23 school year. We are committed to providing our students with challenging, relevant, and joyous learning experiences that ignite a passion for pursuing and excelling in the post-secondary pathway of their choice. Click here to familiarize yourself with our website and explore our exciting programming at Kennedy.

As a reminder, only students in the Class of 2026 and Link Crew should report to school on Monday no later than 7:15 am. We have a special Orientation day planned to ensure that our 9th-grade students feel like they belong and are prepared for the school year. 9th-grade students who are registered will receive their schedule on Monday. 9th-grade students who are not registered will need to register first before receiving a schedule. 9th Graders should not bring anything but a water bottle and a lunch if you are choosing not to eat school lunch (menu here).

If you are a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior new to Kennedy this year and would like a tour on Monday, please get in touch with me at tiffany_almon@dpsk12.org. All students should report to Kennedy no later than 7:15 am on Tuesday the 23rd. If you are registered, you will receive your schedule on Tuesday; if you are not registered, you will not receive a schedule until you are registered.

On Tuesday, the 23rd, all students should come prepared with their school supplies, including their DPS-issued Chromebook. If you do not have a Chromebook, you will receive one within the first week of school.

Parents and Guardians, your voices and ideas are valued! If you are interested in joining any of the following committees, click here.

We continue to mourn the loss of one of our beloved Commanders, Efrain Esparza-Payan; please contribute to the family’s GoFundMe if you are in the position to support in that way.

As Commanders, we must advocate for our passions, challenge inequity, and champion change. We challenge all members of the J.F.K. community to lead with P.R.I.D.E.

2022-2023 Student Handbook

Review the 2022-2023 Student Handbook to find all the information you need for the upcoming school year. The student handbook is a one-stop shop where students and families can find all vital information about JFK. Included in the 2022-2023 Student Handbook are the updated attendance, tardy, and dress code policies.

Cell Phone Policy

We understand that cell phones are essential to our daily lives. However, they can become a distraction to the learning environment. Our policy is that cell phones are not to be used in class for purposes other than teacher-directed activities. In emergencies, families can call the Main Office (720-423-4300) to get in touch with their student(s) during the school day. They will be patched through to the appropriate classroom. Click here to find out more about our Cell Phone Policy.

ID Badges

To ensure school safety all students MUST have ID badges visible AT ALL TIMES Lanyards and clips will be dispersed at no cost when ID badges are distributed.

COVID-19

We now have fewer restrictions because there are no mandates and no public health orders in place. Anyone who chooses to wear a mask may continue to do so. All students may request a mask if they need one.

Masks are strongly recommended for any staff member or student who knows they have been exposed to COVID-19 within the previous 10 days

Per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, and unlike last year, students and employees who have COVID-19 do not need to test for the virus and then get a negative rapid at-home test in order to return to school or work. We ask that symptomatic individuals please return on day six and wear a mask from day six to day 10.

The on-site Denver Health Clinic provides vaccinations, physicals, and other healthcare needs.

Fill out a General Consent for Treatment form and contact our clinic at 720 423 4344 to schedule an appointment.
