Kennedy Choir sings at the Rockies game:

Our JFK commander singers did a wonderful job representing themselves, their school and their community last night at the Rockies game!  They were enthusiastic and sang our National Anthem beautifully in front of about 30,000 Rockies fans!  Very exciting!

Supporters of JFK Robotics,

Our 2013 competition season has come to an exciting close. Kennedy High School was well represented by 13 students during April 4th - 6th at the Colorado Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held on DU's campus.

At the end of competition on day 1 we were in 15th place.

Overall, we placed 20th out of 48 teams.

The competition was fierce and our students met the challenge while demonstrating professionalism and tenacity.  I am proud of our students and thankful to be a part of the Commander community.

Please congratulate these students for their accomplishments!

Unified Basketball

Unified Basketball Coaches Terry Bredehoft and Tom Lynch would like to once again thank the wonderful students and staff of John F. Kennedy High School for their loyal support this basketball season. Please congratulate all of the UNDEFEATED Unified Sports team members on their amazing win last night, March 4th, at the Pepsi Center. A Special shout out to Miss St. Croix and her awesome cheerleaders for cheering us on to victory over Lakewood High. We are all proud to be part of the Kennedy Commander family.

The Counseling Department would like to congratulate:
FRANCESCA DeARAGON and NESTOR MONTEJO

who were selected as leaders for the class of 2015 to participate in the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Seminar this summer.  They were recognized by the faculty of John F. Kennedy High School as students who: excel academically, are well-rounded, exemplify the characteristics of leadership, possess a strong, charismatic personality, are sensitive to the needs of others, and who have the courage to speak out for one’s beliefs.
We are thrilled to have them represent John F. Kennedy High School this summer, at Colorado Christian University, as they learn to make the most of their leadership capabilities!
Congratulations, Frankie & Nestor

Unified Basketball

On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, Unified basketball teams from John F. Kennedy High School and Thomas Jefferson High School played an amazing game in the JFK gymnasium.

Unified Basketball, similar to Special Olympics programs, partners special needs students with peer assistants to help them learn, enjoy, and compete in the game of basketball. JFK teachers Terry Bredehoft, Tom Lynch, and student-coach Salvador Gamez coached the JFK squad. Mollie Pitrone and Jessica Riconti coached the TJ Spartan team. JFK Varsity basketball players Amanda Peterson and Stephanie Herrera officiated the game and Commander cheerleaders pumped up both teams and the crowd.

It was truly an amazing event, filled with great sportsmanship, teamwork, individual effort, and school pride. Congratulations to all participants.

CHSAA Names John F. Kennedy High School Students to Academic All-State Teams

Program Sponsored by CHSAA Continues Recognition of Deserving Students

Aurora, Colo. – The Colorado High School Activities Association and JFKHS has named 50 participants to the fall activities season Academic All-State teams. CHSAA Commissioner Paul Angelico has announced that 38 students have earned first team recognition, while 12 have earned honorable mention status.

These JFK students received honors for excellence in the classroom as well as accomplishments in the activities arena.
First team honors are given to those students with 3.60 or higher grade point average. Students with grade point averages 3.30 to 3.59 earned honorable mention recognition.

Each student receives a certificate in acknowledgement of his/her achievement.

Now in its 17th year, the Academic All-State program has recognized thousands of students throughout the state in the three sports seasons.

“The Academic All-State program continues to showcase the impressive students we have in our programs. This program is one of just a few that honors those special individuals who have succeeded in the classroom, as well as in their chosen activities”.

“We know through a myriad of research that those students who participate in high school activities are more likely to remain in school, miss fewer days and enjoy greater success in life. A Colorado study shows that the average participant in our state holds a 3.06 grade point average. Interscholastic activities are a critical ingredient in the education of our young people,” the Commissioner added.

To earn Academic All-State status, a student must be a significant contributor on his/her athletic team, or a major contributor in his/her activity; meet specific academic criteria of the program; be a participant in one or more CHSAA-sanctioned activities; and be a junior or senior in academic standing.
