Welcome to John F. Kennedy High School Home of the Commanders!
As Commanders, we are advocates of our passions, challengers of inequity, and champions of change. We find P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Respect, Inclusion, Dedication, and Excellence) in shaping a more inclusive global community and taking command of our role within that world.
Kennedy Drill Team is Named Best in Colorado State History
This is NOT a drill! Pictured above is the BEST DRILL TEAM IN COLORADO STATE HISTORY. At the Air Academy Drill Meet, the JFK Honor Platoon took 1st Place in Regulation Drill, 1st Place in Exhibition Drill, 1st Place in Color Guard, 2nd Place in Inspection and 1st Place overall. Vanessa Covarrubias commanded the Regulation and Exhibition, Leilah Burgos commanded the Color Guard and Ruby Guzman commanded the Inspection. Please help us congratulate The Honor Platoon for their hard work and dedication, AND help us celebrate MSG (R) Scot Kinder for being coach of the year!
Commander cadets, you continue to blow us away with your dedication and passion. Congratulations on this massive achievement!
Commanders Celebrate Ramadan Until April 9
The holy month of Ramadan is upon us until April 9! Ramadan marks the Islamic month of fasting from sunup until sundown for many Muslims — meaning not partaking in food, water or smoking. The act of fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam meant to remind Muslims of the less fortunate and reinforce the need to be thankful. The Ramadan celebration involves gathering and praying late into the night. Please be mindful of our students, families and staff members in support of their commitment to the month of Ramadan. To support those who observe Ramadan, please consider:
Muslim students and staff may be hungry, tired and dehydrated, especially if they are in class late in the afternoon. Recognize that students may be low energy.
Staff and students may be hungry, so give them support by using encouraging language more than language emphasizing worry. Cheer them on!
Kennedy is opening Room 103 for Muslim students and staff to share space together. Staff and students are welcome to gather in this room during lunchtime.
Increased awareness about Ramadan within our community.
