No Class for Students on Thursday, March 20

Commanders: There will be NO class for students tomorrow, Thursday, March 20, per the direction of DPS Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero. Read his letter to families and staff here. This operational closure is a result of teacher/staff participation in the Colorado Education Association’s No More Education Cuts statewide Day of Action

Although there will be no class for students, breakfast and lunch will be available at all school sites at regularly scheduled times should students need meals.
School will resume on Friday, March 21, and it will be a Green Day. Please ensure your student attends class on Friday and meets with their teachers before leaving for Spring Break (March 24-28.)

Kennedy Prom Information

Prom will be on Saturday, April 12, at Baldoria on the Water. Tickets are $70 each. Students are required to have 85% attendance or higher from Tuesday, January 21st through Friday April 4th. Attendance rates will be posted weekly outside of the main office. During Saturday School hours, students have the opportunity to come in and make up ONE percentage point.

Your Voice/ Tu Voz Student Survey

The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Student Survey is open through Friday, March 21! Responses to the survey inform decisions on how we can better serve all our students. Students in third- through 12th-grade should have received an email from Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero with a unique link to complete the survey. Students will have the opportunity to take the survey in class on a date designated by the school, however, we encourage families to check in with their children to ensure they completed the survey. If you have questions, email surveys@dpsk12.net.

Kennedy High School is ENERGY STAR Certified

The DPS Sustainability Team announced that Kennedy is one of six schools in the district that earned an ENERGY STAR certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for superior energy performance in 2024! On average, ENERGY STAR certified buildings use 35% less energy, release 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions and are less expensive to operate than their peers, all while meeting strict requirements for occupant comfort.
