Dear Commander Community,
I am sure that the most recent COVID Update communication alarmed and potentially triggered fear in your households. I would like to reinforce that all but one of these cases occurred remotely. In addition, we are adhering to the health and safety guardrails as outlined below to limit the spread of COVID within our school. Dr. Steve Federico from Denver Health explains, “The mitigation strategies in schools work [limit the spread of the virus]: masking, staying home when we are sick, and getting as many people fully vaccinated and boosted as possible”. Students above the age of 16 are now eligible to receive boosters; and, our JFK Denver Health clinic provides free vaccinations and boosters. If you have concerns or questions about DPS’s current health and safety and/or remote learning policies, please email our School Board at board@dpsk12.org.
Your feedback during this difficult time is critical to the success of our students. Please take a moment to complete this feedback survey and please get involved by either joining our Commander Connection PTSA (email lisa1115@hotmail.com or laurentz_gilmore@dpsk12.net) or by attending our upcoming Commander Conversation virtual town hall on 1/26/22 from 5 – 6pm here.
