The High School of BusinessTM is designed much like a college-level business administration program. You’ll start with Leadership and CTE Tech Apps, then take courses in business principles, economics, marketing, management, and finance. The program ends with a capstone course that challenges you to pull together the knowledge and skills you’ve learned throughout the program to complete a fun, but challenging, project. Sophomore courses and above earn weighted GPA credit and concurrent enrollment with Arapahoe Community college for a total of 9 credit hours upon completing the program.
Just like in college and career, you’ll be faced with projects and problems that must be solved. Most of these will be completed by teams of students learning to work together. Your results will be communicated through professional business-style presentations, written reports, skits, written reflections, comprehensive exams, and more!
Leadership and Tech Apps: Principles of Leadership will allow students to discover what it takes to be a great leader and practice those skills for themselves. From Microsoft Word to Excel, CTE Tech Apps students will learn the tools necessary to give them a competitive edge in today’s business world.
Principles of Business: What do a rock group’s tour, a podcast, and the NFL have in common? Business – it’s everywhere! In this course you’ll explore the major areas of business through fun, real world projects.
Business Economics: Ever thought about the choices that the Three Little Pigs made? In Business Economics, you will consider how decisions (such as work vs. play or sticks vs. straw) affect businesses and individuals.
Principles of Marketing: Why would Apple choose an e-mail campaign over a TV commercial? How does Nike determine its prices? Through projects and problems, you will get inside marketer’s heads and find out what makes them tick.
Principles of Finance: Can you imagine a company president who doesn’t understand finances? Learning how companies manage their money is important in any business career. In this course, you will face issues that concern financial markets and institutions.
Principles of Management: Get an up-close look at managing. You’ll learn first-hand how to manage projects and people – and how to do it ethically and legally. Work as a team to conquer problems you face in the areas of management, including human resources, risk, and knowledge management.
Business Strategies: Here’s where it all comes together. You and your classmates will team-up to use what you’ve learned and created in previous courses to start and run your own business. Take charge!
