A Message From The Principal

Dear Commander Families,

“Friends. Sisters. Mothers. Professors. When women affirm women, it unlocks our power. It gives us permission to shine brighter.” March is Women’s History Month, and this quote by award-winning journalist, Elaine Welteroth, inspires me to celebrate the women that make a huge impact on society and on our Commander Community year round. Additionally, charge every one of our students to build each other up, support each other, and use kind language towards one another. We are STRONGER when we stand TOGETHER, Commanders.

Congratulations to our students who participated in the TSA State Conference last week! Tim Frick, Vanessa Covarrubais, Dylan Hernandez-Norberto and Beau Anchondo earned 1st Place in the Assistive Technology Challenge.  They designed a device for Beau Anchondo to tie his shoe, floss his teeth and play the guitar. What an amazing example of putting your mind to something to improve life for others.

Congratulations Kathleen Hoang and Sophie Allen on 2nd Place in Fashion Design Technology.  They designed a dress for the Ocsars protesting our throw out culture and Fast Fashion.  The entire dress was made out of reclaimed materials from thrift stores. These students are not only creative, but forward thinking and have the global mindset needed to make significant and positive changes to our world.

We are also proud of our students who showed Commander PRIDE values at the DECA conference.
