Commander Communicator

A Message From Principal Almon

Dear Commanders,

We talk a lot at JFK about the importance of academic excellence. It made me proud to see our students’ work posted while walking the halls this week. While attending class and completing high quality work is one predictor of academic excellence, another predictor is the strength of a students’ relationships. In fact, research that followed Harvard graduates from adolescence to retirement found that “relationships are the most important prologue to a good life.” That’s why I’m also proud when I see students and teachers sharing smiles and students encouraging each other to get to class and take command of their future.

I know as Principal that I am just one of the people in our students’ lives who loves them and is delighted to see progress. Our PTSA, the Commander Connection, is a great opportunity to support student’s academic success and “good life”. Please complete this survey to get involved and share your pride and love for JFK!

Have a Commander Kind of Day!

From Dr. Rick Brewer, JFK Assistant Principal & Athletic Director

Dear Commanders,

It has been a pleasure to serve this community over the past four years. The work we have done to provide access to an equitable high caliber education and competitive athletics is remarkable. Upon arrival I was welcomed, and worked diligently to earn the respect of our students, family and staff. As I move forward in my career, I pray that I have left our program in a better position than when I arrived.

My hope is that the next leader does the same because our students deserve the best. Together we have closed a two decades wide technology gap, developed new facilities, enhanced our personnel, expanded our programs, and most importantly increased the pride we have in our school.

Although I will no longer be in the halls next year, I will always be a Commander. I will continue working through the end of the 2022-2023 school year to help facilitate the transition of my role.

Thank you Kennedy HS for this opportunity to grow as a leader, educator, and human.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rick M. Brewer
