Rick Brewer

Rick was born in Denver and raised in the Montbello community. He attended J.K. Mullen High School where he was a student-athlete as well as a student body leader. His background has provided a wealth of experiences that have shaped his philosophies and actions around equitable education opportunities, with a special emphasis on students from diverse populations.

His background has provided a wealth of experiences that have shaped his philosophies and actions around equitable education opportunities, with a special emphasis on students from diverse populations.

During Rick’s undergraduate studies, he was a student-athlete while earning a B.A. in Economics and a minor in History. Shortly after graduation, he began studying special education and eventually moved into a full-time position in the classroom. In the fall of 2012 he enrolled in the M.A. in Special Education program at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Upon completion of the M.A. program he began working as the Affective Needs Center Program Teacher at George Washington High School (DPS). Rick has recently transitioned from his role as Director of Scholar Services at Wyatt Academy Elementary. While serving at Wyatt, he was able to modify systems and policies to better serve students from marginalized backgrounds. Rick will complete his Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Denver, on August 17, 2019.
