Lisa grew up outside Chicago and moved to North Denver in 2005. She is passionate about literature and writing and received a BA in English from Northern Illinois University before going on to the University of Illinois to pursue graduate studies in Medieval Literature. She is equally passionate about disability rights and innovative approaches to inclusion, inspired by her own experience as a former student with a disability. She worked for almost two decades in nonprofit leadership focused on supporting children and families before returning to teaching in 2016. She is the parent of two teens and her family also includes a dog, two cats, four parakeets, a lizard, chickens, and many, many fish. She loves mountain biking and kayaking with her kids, and also makes pottery and writes plays to support her creative interests.
