Laurentz Gilmore has been a Communications and Video Production professional for 7 years and this is her first year working for Denver Public Schools.
Laurentz Gilmore was born in Norwalk, Connecticut and grew up in a bilingual household, speaking both English and Spanish. When she was 9 years old, she moved down to Sarasota, Florida.
She began her studies in Digital Video Production when she was in high school through a 2 year career-focused program much like John F. Kennedy High School’s CareerConnect program. After graduating, she attended the University of South Florida to receive her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Creative Writing.
During her time in college, Laurentz fell in love with traveling and experiencing new cultures. So far, she has had the opportunity to visit Brazil, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, Chile, and Costa Rica.
After spending over 7 years studying and working in the communications and video production industry, Laurentz wanted to pursue a new venture of building a life in Colorado. Her and her boyfriend, Alex, packed whatever could fit into their two cars and made the 3 day drive to their new home.
Laurentz is now honored and thrilled to be a part of the John F. Kennedy team and looks forward to documenting the JFK journey to success under this new leadership through artistic/visual storytelling. Her video work has been recognized with 5 national Telly Awards and she plans to apply that same quality of work to her role as our Communications Specialist.
