Hi, my name is Joshua Vanderschuere (Van-Der-Sher). I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and received a Master’s degree from the University of Denver in Urban Education. This will be my 6th year with DPS, but my first in the southwest Denver area. I previously worked in the Montbello neighborhood at Farrell B. Howell as an elementary Math and ELD teacher. I love creating bonds with my students and families that go beyond the classroom. The goal in my classroom is to “beat yesterday.” That means my students and I take a step forward everyday.
I am originally from New Jersey, but I have lived in Colorado since 2001. I have been married to my wife for 7 years. I have a 20 month old daughter and a 7 year old mutt named Bandit. We spend our free time outdoors as much as possible; camping, snowboarding, and anything on the water. My favorite movies include American Gangster, Forrest Gump, and the Jungle Book. My favorite books are anything by C.J. Box, Louis L’amour, Jack London, and Jack Carr. I have traveled to over 25 countries.
