I am originally from Venezuela. In 2003 I left my homeland to work with rural schools in El Salvador and develop a literacy project, which fed my spirit to help communities in need. In 2006, I came to CU-Boulder to do a Master’s and PhD in literature, specifically Spanish, and since then I live in Colorado with my three children and husband. I am interested in knowing the cultural and social dynamics of the places I visit and that is why I travel whenever I can, within the country and abroad, and I try to teach my children the value of other everyday things like culture, language and their points of view. And I take this life experience to my classroom every day where I teach my students to value their current culture and that of their parents.
