Coach Bote was a Physical Education Instructor at Niwot High School for 34 years. He has coached Football, Basketball, Baseball and has also been an Athletic Director at the High School level.
His football experience spans 25 seasons. He coached offensive backs, was an Offensive Coordinator for 15 years at Niwot and Erie High School, a Defensive Coordinator, and spent 3 years as the Head Coach at Niwot. Coach Bote teams made the playoffs 12 times, the Final Four 4 times, and were crowned State Champions twice.
As a Basketball assistant coach at Niwot and Erie for 8 years, his teams made the State playoffs 3 times.
Finally, Coach Bote has coached spring baseball for 41 seasons. Of those, 33 have been spent as a Head Coach. His teams won 25 Conference Titles, played in 16 Final Fours, were State Runner-ups twice, and State Champions 6 times. His 1998-2000 Niwot teams claimed a 4A three peat. Over 70 of his players moved on to the collegiate and professional ranks, including one of his four sons, David who is now in his third year with the Chicago Cubs. His overall CHSAA record is 514-173.
He also spent those 41 summers coaching Legion B, Legion A and travel teams through Slammers. Again, he has won 6 state titles and been to 4 Legion A Western Regional tournaments. His 2004 team went 72-8 and qualified for the American Legion A World Series. Most recently he was inducted into the Colorado Dugout Club’s Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Coach Bote has been married to his wife Therese for 39 years. They have six children and 11 grandchildren. He and his family are excited to be a part of the Commander Football Family!
