Welcome to John F. Kennedy High School Home of the Commanders!
As Commanders, we are advocates of our passions, challengers of inequity, and champions of change. We find P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Respect, Inclusion, Dedication, and Excellence) in shaping a more inclusive global community and taking command of our role within that world.
The Future Center Continues to Help Kennedy Students Navigate Their Post-Secondary Goals
Navigating financial aid, scholarships and college applications can be overwhelming, but the Denver Scholarship Foundation’s Future Center is here to help students. We are so proud of the work our Commanders have been completing in the Future Center. Check out our Future Center’s highlights below as well as a segment from CBS Colorado about updates with FASFA (featuring Kennedy Senior Charlene Torres!)
Is your student feeling confused about FASFA? Please join us in the Future Center for the upcoming FAFSA Workshop on March 22 from 2-5 p.m. Denver Scholarship Foundation FAFSA experts will be at JFK supporting families in English & Spanish to complete the application now that most glitches have been resolved.
The holy month of Ramadan is upon us until April 9! Ramadan marks the Islamic month of fasting from sunup until sundown for many Muslims — meaning not partaking in food, water or smoking. The act of fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam meant to remind Muslims of the less fortunate and reinforce the need to be thankful. The Ramadan celebration involves gathering and praying late into the night. Please be mindful of our students, families and staff members in support of their commitment to the month of Ramadan. To support those who observe Ramadan, please consider:
Muslim students and staff may be hungry, tired and dehydrated, especially if they are in class late in the afternoon. Recognize that students may be low energy.
Staff and students may be hungry, so give them support by using encouraging language more than language emphasizing worry. Cheer them on!
Kennedy is opening Room 103 for Muslim students and staff to share space together. Staff and students are welcome to gather in this room during lunchtime.
