Dear Commander Community,

All families and students received their Quarter 1 progress report on Friday through email. Please take time as a family to celebrate successes from the first 9 weeks of school and game plan actions to overcome challenges. As a reminder, we host College and Career Success Block every Monday through Thursday after school from 2:45 – 3:30 in room 306. Students can come to 306 to catch up on assignments and missed work, as well as, work on Edgenuity courses. Teachers are also available every day after school except Wednesdays for office hours. Please utilize these resources if you need extra help in your classes.

PSAT NMSQT makeups are on Tuesday and PSAT 9 for all 9th graders will be on Friday.  These assessments are FREE opportunities for our students to practice for the SAT, a college entrance exam that many colleges and universities utilize for their admissions process. We will end our week with our Quarter 1 P.R.I.D.E. celebration to recognize our students and staff for their dedication and hard work.

As students may have heard in an IB class, or via email from Ms. Warren, the registration process for IB exams is open now through November 5th! The IB exams are how students earn college credit for IB classes (as well as a cord for graduation). In order to take the exams and/or submit your coursework, Ms. Warren must have all registration information submitted through this form: IB Exam Registration form. Additional information can also be found on the JFK IB website.

Have a Commander Kind of Week!

HEALTH AND SAFETY

If students are masked and vaccinated while at school, students only need to quarantine if they start experiencing symptoms. Staff and students should monitor who they are in close contact with when masks are off, especially during lunch time. Eat outside whenever possible. See COVID-19 Exposure decision tree here for more information.

Please note, students are not required to get vaccinated to return in person. However, we highly encourage our students to get vaccinated. If we can continue to increase the number of people aged 12 and older who get the vaccine, we can get closer to herd immunity, and resume the fun activities that make life as a high school student so memorable. Check out this information regarding the COVID-19 vaccination and the sites located all-around Denver.

Please read this information from our Superintendent, Dr. Marrero, for details about vaccinations, mask guidance, and safety measures.
