Update on Student Schedules

Dear Commanders,

We are excited about the new school year and look forward to the first day of class on August 24th. This is a unique time, and we thank you for your patience and support as we find new ways to educate and support JFK students. We can assure you all that we have been working hard to get things ready and ensure that we are providing the very best educational experience possible.  It has been challenging to make so many adjustments to our programming, but we welcome the opportunity as we value and appreciate you all.  Our letter today is to provide you all with an update around schedules for the 20-21 school year.

  • Student schedules will be visible on Student Portal and Schoology by end of day on Friday, August 21st.
  • If students/families have questions/concerns about their schedule, they will need to complete a google form (available Friday via Schoology/JFK Website/email). PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL YOUR COUNSELOR FOR SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS. We would like to streamline this process, and counselors will only be looking at the google form for schedule concerns/questions.
  • Student schedule changes are not guaranteed. That being said, we will work with students and families to best serve and educate students.

We also wanted to provide an update on the 100% online program that we will be running for those families who have opted in.  Because of the small number of students who chose this option, we will only be able to provide limited course options for students in both the core content areas and electives.  We fully understand that this is challenging and will limit the ability for students to fully explore their interests.  We will do our best to accommodate students and problem solve around barriers to fully meet the needs of students.

We appreciate the collaboration and communication,
John F. Kennedy High School
