Here is what our new team members had to say about themselves:
- Katanna Logsdon — Vocal Music Teacher:
Hello students and family of Kennedy High School. I am Katanna Logsdon, and I am the new choral director! I am so excited to join the community and family here at Kennedy and get to know each of your students.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver in December of 2018. This is my first year teaching after being a long-term substitute teacher at Castro Elementary here in Denver.
I am a huge movie fanatic and book reader. I love to go see the newest movies out in theater and go every chance I get. My favorite thing to do is sit out on my patio and read a book, especially in the fall weather. My favorite movie is The Greatest Showman, and my favorite book series is Harry Potter or East of Eden. I recently got married and have three wonderful fur babies: Charlie my dog, Hunter my cat, and Thor my cat, who are my world. I love being outside, whether it’s in the mountains or at the Sand Dunes. I love to travel everywhere I can. My favorite places I have been or Aruba or Cabo. I am a huge adrenaline junkie. I love to zip-line, swim with whale sharks, and my hope one day is to cage dive with great white sharks.
I am so excited to go on this incredibly journey with you all and become a part of this great family!
- Bridget Sibson — PE/Dance/Yoga teacher:
Hi everyone. My name is Bridget Sibson and I am so excited to be part of the team here at JFK High. I received my undergraduate degree from College of Charleston for physical education. I have been teaching K-8 for about 5 years now. Currently I’m studying at UC Denver for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. I am going to be teaching dance and yoga as well as a lifetime fitness class. I wish I had yoga in high school!
I have lived in Colorado for about 5 years now except for a year abroad in Mallorca, Spain and Melbourne, Australia. I missed Colorado, and all the available outdoor activities.I was born in Miami and grew up in D.C and Philadelphia, my family still resides outside of Philly. My passion is polo and horses, as well as yoga and dance. I cant wait to share my moves with the students! Looking forward to getting to know all of you and this community.
- Shannon Bockstahler — ELD teacher:
Hello students and family of Kennedy High School! I am Shannon Bockstahler and I am the new English Language Development teacher for the remainder of this school year. I am incredibly excited to join the community and most especially excited to meet and work with your students.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English with an Emphasis on Secondary Education in 2012 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. From there I became a teacher. This is my 8th year teaching all together. My first year I worked as a long-term substitute teacher at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs teaching Senior Mythology and 10th Grade English. I spent the next three years teaching 6th grade Language Arts at Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy, also in Colorado Springs. While there I helped train teachers to better integrate their 1 to 1 laptops within their instruction and better support their students in 21st Century Skills. From there I chose to move to Denver to be closer to family. I then taught 7th grade Language Arts at West Leadership Academy for a year and then two years of ELD for grades 9-12.
I’m deeply passionate about stories both fictional and true. Every summer I go to Denver Pop Culture Con (formerly Denver Comic Con). I’ve only dressed in costume once (called cosplay) and it’s the most amazing experience ever for anyone who’s a fan of popular culture. If I had the joy of going to Hogwarts I would have been in House Hufflepuff; I would have fought for House Stark in Game of Thrones; Peter Parker and Tony Stark (Spiderman and Iron Man) would be my best hero friends in the Avengers; and Donkey Kong in the Nintendo universe is my Mario Kart racing buddy. In my free time I love reading; writing fantasy novels and I hope to one day be published; playing and writing for Dungeons and Dragons both at my kitchen table and with friends online across the country; hiking in the mountains; bicycling along the Highline Canal; and playing video games on my Playstation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. I’m very much an indoor kid and a proud nerd!
I cannot wait to join you in this high school adventure!
