Dear JFK Community,
First of all let me say thank you for the warm welcome and support in my first few days as interim principal. I wanted to update you on our school’s operations during the strike. Our students have been very respectful, attending classes and doing their best under these circumstances.
Today about 50 students walked out of classes and were directed to the auditorium. Students were in the auditorium for approximately 15 minutes with adult supervision when about 25 of them returned to class. The other 25 students left school grounds and were chanting on the street corner for about 15 minutes then most returned to class. A resource officer and administrator were there to support them and ensure their safety.
Please know that the safety of your child is important to us and during this strike we will do everything possible to provide structure and support in each classroom. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Again, thank you for the privilege of serving as the principal at JFK. Lynn Heintzman.
