March for the Cure

It’s that time of year again for the Janet Danos March for the Cure!!! Our cadets will be coming around selling T-shirts for the march on April 12th. For each $20.00 T-shirt sold, $10.00 goes to the Denver Hospice and Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance. T-shirts are gray and navy. Please see picture for this year’s T-shirt design.

The Janet Danos March for the Cure is a 5K run/walk/skateboard/bike/crawl/cartwheel, etc., which was started in 2008. It is a fully permitted event on the City of Denver’s activity calendar. It starts at the Dartmouth/Lamar bus stop and heads East to the “Hat Park” and returns. It is a service learning project for the cadets who wanted to honor Janet Danos, the wife of former JROTC instructor Master Sergeant John Doig. She died of colorectal cancer that year. Thanks to The Denver Hospice and Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance, John was able to have her in their home to the end. Every year the JROTC raises money for these organizations and they come in and speak with our cadets to help them better learn about this deadly disease and the challenge of caring for someone with it. The cadets also research cancer and its effects as well as visit cancer patients going through chemotherapy. Please come out and support these terrific organizations!!!
