Middle Years Programme
JFK’s MYP is a good choice for any student in grades 9 and 10 – students who are continuing their middle school IB education and also those enrolling in JFK as freshmen or sophomores with no prior IB experience.
MYP students receive a well-rounded education, studying English and Spanish
or French; history and geography; general science; biology; chemistry;
physics; math; physical education; and technology.
MYP students develop personally and intellectually by considering:
• How do I learn best? How do I know? How do I communicate my understanding?
• How do we live in relation to each other? How can I contribute to
the community? How can I help others?
• Why and how do we create? What are the consequences?
• Where do we live? What resources do we have or need? What are my
responsibilities?
• How do I think and act? How am I changing? How can I look after
myself and others?
MYP students who successfully complete their “personal project” requirement
– a significant piece of work over an extended period of time – by
the end of grade 10 may be eligible for a distinguished IB certificate.
