The Diploma Programme
JFK’s IB Diploma Programme will be available in 2008 to juniors and in 2009 to seniors who apply and demonstrate that they want to pursue more rigorous academic coursework.
The challenging, two-year program, known for its demanding curriculum and global outlook, leads to an IB diploma that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.
Students who successfully complete IB Diploma Programme exams can earn
college credit during high school.
Diploma Programme students:
• Study a comprehensive curriculum including: English; Spanish or
French; social studies; science; math and electives such as music,
theater, art, computer science, psychology, etc.
• Write an in-depth essay to investigate a topic of interest, training
students in independent research and writing skills expected in college.
• Take a theory of knowledge course, fostering an appreciation of
other cultural perspectives.
• Participate in courses that encourage students to be involved in
artistic pursuits, sports and community service work. These courses
deepen students’ awareness and appreciation of life outside of school.
